Vision
Empowered rural women lead a movement of climate-smart livelihoods, enabling their communities to adopt sustainable products and practices, resulting in economically thriving, environmentally resilient rural communities.
Mission
By 2030, empower 10,000 rural women entrepreneurs to deliver clean energy, sustainable agriculture, and healthcare solutions to 2 Million rural households.
Milestones
2006–2009
Co-created the Urja cookstove and biomass pellets, while building a last-mile network of Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) across Latur and Dharashiv, laying the foundation for a women-led clean energy ecosystem.
2009
Founded Sakhi Unique Rural Enterprise (SURE), establishing a women-led livelihood model and expanding into clean energy solutions like solar lighting and biogas.
2010–2015
Built a network of 2,500 women entrepreneurs across Maharashtra and Bihar, partnering with organizations like British Petroleum, Godrej and USAID
2016
Deployed 10,000+ climate-smart technologies through the Sakhi network.
2020
Entered the milk value chain, strengthening livelihoods and market linkages.
2024
Established a new entity, Sakhi Unique Resource Enterprise, to scale the Sakhi Model; also initiated rural brand promotions with Britannia.
2025
Launched new verticals across project implementation, NGO Support, food and value chain expanding SURE’s impact.

Mr. Upmanyu Patil brings over 32 years of rich experience in the non-profit and social enterprise sector. With deep expertise in program management, corporate partnerships, and training development, Mr. Patil has played a pivotal role in designing and implementing programs that strengthen rural entrepreneurship and women’s economic empowerment.
Prashant Mandke
CEO & Founder
Mr.Prashant Mandke brings over 30 years of diverse and significant managerial and consulting experience, with extensive expertise in developing and implementing rural marketing campaigns for clients across FMCG, consumer durables, agriculture, and automobiles. He has been recognized as the Most Influential Rural Marketing Professional by CMO Asia and the Most Influential Agriculture Professional by the Agriculture Innovation Congress.
Rahul Hude
Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Rahul Hude has 10 years of experience in the social sector, with expertise in developing women’s networks and implementing various projects in partnership with corporates and donors. He has published five international research articles and two chapters in international journals.
