Sakhi Unique Resource Enterprise (SURE), in association with Villgro, CEEW, and PoweringLivelihoods, proudly launched the Climate Champion League (CCL) on 1st February. A first-of-its-kind initiative, the league mobilises Sakhi groups across communities to drive large-scale adoption of climate-friendly practices and clean technologies at the grassroots through gamification and collective community action.

The Climate Champion League was officially inaugurated by our Chief Guest, Ms. Mrinal Kulkarni, renowned actress, director, and producer, who unveiled the league logo and marked the beginning of this inspiring grassroots climate movement. Celebrated for her impactful work across film, television, and theatre, she is known for portraying strong characters and for her meaningful contributions to society through art.

This exciting initiative is a 45-day challenge — a true climate action marathon — where the SURE team continuously motivates, guides, and supports Sakhi groups to accelerate the adoption of climate-friendly products and practices. Throughout the league, Sakhi groups champion sustainable solutions in their villages, strengthening both environmental impact and local livelihoods.

At the end of the 45 days, the Sakhi group achieving the highest sales and maximum adoption at the grassroots will be declared the Climate Champion League winner, celebrating their leadership in building resilient, climate-smart and sustainable rural livelihoods.
